1oz Philharmonic for sale - $975 shipped

SOLD

I have no idea if this one is from the same batch. It may not be one of coins the thread was about. But if it is, I would not be surprised.

It weighs 31.18g. Thickness is 1.9mm, diameter is 37.02mm.

Scans here, alongside a 1/10 GAE for comparison:

Scan 1

Scan 2

Again, I'm not sure if it is one of the 90% pure counterfeits. But I would not be surprised if it is. It could be real though.

I paid roughly $940 for it. I will sell it for $975 shipped/insured, on the condition that you agree, if you find through testing that it is not 24K, to not hold me liable.

S. If you are not interested, there is no reason for you to post in this thread. Thanks for your cooperation.

Got any 50% Gold Phils for $500?

Re: 1oz Philharmonic for sale - $975 shipped

They haven't started making those (yet).

The good news is that no one believes fake Philharmonics exist, so my dumb ass is selling 24K gold not only at no premium, but under spot! :confused_m:

i don't understand why anybody would go to the trouble of making a counterfeit, if they're using real gold.

Philharmonics don't have that big a premium over spot. whether it's being cast or stamped, it's a huge amount of work.

just trying to understand the motivations of the counterfeiters.

why would anybody with skill & the gold to make a counterfeit take the time ? call it $50 over spot + maybe $100 if they substitute 10% gold. not much of a pay-off for someone with the requisite skill-set.

They wouldn't bother. Only a complete moron would even suggest that anybody would attempt to counterfeit an Austrian Philharmonic gold bullion coin using 90% gold alloy - what rubbish!:moon:

Skeptic, I don't have a dog in this fight. Isn't this thread pouring gas on a fire? I don't understand your motivation.

Re: 1oz Philharmonic for sale - $975 shipped

My motivation is just to sell the coin and get some cash back out of it. If someone wants to purchase it and test it to their heart's content, so be it. Or if they just want to buy it to save, that's fine too. I just don't have any use for it.

Ummm, I'm not an expert but those pictures sure look like an American Eagle to me...
You've been double duped!

The possibilities and theories have been discussed ad nauseam. There are some theories that haven't really been explored or given much weight, it doesn't really matter though. All I am trying to do in this thread is sell a coin.

Uh, are you referring to the color of the Phil vs. the color of the Eagle, or are you talking about the fact that there is an Eagle in the scan?

I'm interested. Only problem is I'm not sure if the FRN's I have are counterfeits. I would be surprised if they were, they most probably are real.

I'm positive your frn's are fake money andial, so if they get you a fake stamping of 90% its a WIN-WIN!!!!:ARMS1:

There is absolutely no way the coin is only 90% pure, right? Then why not buy some gold way under spot?

For the mathematically challenged among us - even if the coin is only 90% pure, you would only be paying $24 over current spot. If it's real (which we all know that it absolutely is, right? :thumb.aspx:), you're getting one hell of a deal.
